
Chapter One
Snow paced nervously around the room. The tension weighed down on her shoulders, a burden she needed to get rid of. The bears were expecting her to do something. They were getting tired, and who's job was it to fix things up?
Snow's, of course.
A beautiful young polar bear sat up and walked over to Snow. As she came closer, she recognized the polar bear as her daughter. "What?" she snapped. Blue looked taken aback. Snow sighed, apologizing.
Blue began hurriedly. "The man in the cloak sent me a letter demanding that you come to him," she said.
Snow's heart sank.
"By midnight," she concluded.
Chapter Two
Snow stepped out of the ice cave, wearing a light blue cloak. Moonlight shined on her weary face.
"I thought I never would see you," a voice said. "Yet here I am."
Snow whipped around, but she didn't see the one speaking. Finally, a mysterious someone with a black cloak slipped into view. "Snow," the stranger said. "My daughter-in-law."
"Who are you?" Snow yelled. Then she became silent. Daughter-in-law. That meant the stranger was her husband's
dad!
She never met him before, and she never intended too. She could always tell that her husband never wanted to talk about him; he just waved off the question when Snow asked about him.
But here he was, looking every bit as evil as Snow imagined him to be. Her mouth curved into a malicious smile. "Welcome to our kingdom," she said. "What brings you here?"
